Riccardo Duca

Riccardo Duca was born in Palestrina (Rome) on 18 August 1978. He received the Laurea in Telecommunication Engineering at Tor Vergata University in Rome on 7July 2004, defending the graduation thesis with the title "Observation of the sea-ice condition and the polynya in Terra Nova Bay by the use of ASAR Wide Swath images". The thesis was the consequence of a six months stage period at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati (Rome).
After the thesis he started the PhD in GeoInformation at Tor Vergata University concerning the processing, the atmospheric correction, the elaboration and the neural network classification of the new hyperspectral CHRIS/Proba images. He is also involved in thematics related to the SAR elaboration, the G.I.S integration and virtual environment development and about the use of multipsectral HR and VHR images. He is pursuing his PhD course at ESRIN as "visiting scientist", giving technical and scientific support to several ESA activities related to the educational programs, the tsunami data set package preparation ( http://earth.esa.int/applications/tsunamidata/) and the testing of BEST and Bilko software.
Now he is completing the PhD studies at ESA/ESTEC (Netherland) on the Wave Interaction & Propagation Section and he is involved on the activities concerning the planning, the simulation and the optimization of the multispectral GMES Sentinel 2 Mission .
