Lucia Ciccotti
Lucia Ciccotti was born in
Rome, Italy, in 1981. She received the masters degree in Telecommunication
Engineering with summa cum laude from the Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy,
in July 2005. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Geoinformation at
the Tor Vergata University. Her main research activity is focused on Air Traffic
Control and Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System. In particular,
her interests are related to the implementation of the Surveillance function
using the ICAO standard Mode S signals. Since SSR Mode S (Secondary Surveillance
Radar-Mode Selective) exploitation in high traffic environment calls for enhancing
communication capacity of the downlink channel around 1090 MHz, she is studying
novel solutions to locate and identify cooperating targets (both aircraft and
vehicles) in the airport and in the terminal area by using Multilateration (MLAT)
and Wide Area Multilateration (WAM), respectively. Since November 2005 she has
been working on Air Traffic Management and Airport Systems at Selex Sistemi
Integrati (a Finmeccanica Company).
