Gianluca Caricato

Gianluca Caricato was born in Rome, Italy, in 1981.
In January 2006 he obtained the master’s degree in “Telecommunications Engineering” (2st level graduation) at the “Tor Vergata” University in Rome with final mark 110/110 summa cum laude. The thesis, in the remote sensing field, was entitled “Measuring coseismic displacements from complex ASAR images: application of both interferometry and offset-tracking technique to Kashmir earthquake, 08th October 2006”, entirely carried out at ESRIN (European Space Agency main office in Frascati).
In November 2006 he joined the Dipartimento di Informatica, Sistemi e Produzione (DISP ), Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy, where he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in GeoInformation. His work, focused on the study of polarimetric-interferometric applications by using fully polarimetric complex SAR data from ALOS/PALSAR sensor, will be carried out in collaboration with ESA/ESRIN (Frascati).
He has also experience in estimation of co-seismic ground deformations from SAR complex data, and software development for (high frequency) electromagnetic field simulation in urban area.
He also will study the potentiality in polarimetry-interferometry field of artificial intelligence techniques (neural networks, Support Vector Machines, etc ...), usually used in classification and pattern recognition activities.
